Once Beaten, Twice Shy || Back to top

27th April 2010.

What a joyous occasion to celebrate! The once normal feathered, dull, nearly outstanding eagle finally soared high clothed in Golden robe, crowned in triumph, claiming the trophy of glory.

In a lifetime, one thing that can make a person break a cold sweat, with his legs shivering and heart pumping uncontrollably is when one steps into the entrance of a throng, feeling the cold breeze of the air-con, trying not to get distracted by the cheers or jeers, and avoiding any eye contact with the spectators. The finale reminds every athlete that it is no longer just about skills or physical capabilities, but most importantly about the mental capacity.

After so much, I guess most of my teammates had overcame that personal Everest. During the game against North Vista secondary, I felt less stressed, more focused than what I used to feel. Though a bit of anxiety and few moment of rashness, I managed to accomplish some of my personal targets like rebounding and defense. Thanks to all basketball teachers in-charge for giving so much encouragement and moral support.

Besides playing on court, like the spectators, I too witnessed exciting plays and was thrilled and entertained while I sat on the bench cheering for my teammates. Every time when our morale was a little down, there would always be someone scoring the crucial ball, continuously bringing the atmosphere back to the peak of the hype. Though our opponents shot several three points, my team still managed to get them back to maintain the comfortable margin of about 10 points.

Team Unity played our best and showed a difference from other games- we had more teamwork. I believe that North vista had also fought the maximum they could but unfortunately for them, and fortunately for us, the game was sealed with the score of 70 to 52.

Most importantly, I want to thank God for the win and also allowing me to be part of this team. I was not wrong to trust in him. For 3 years, I wouldn't have joined this team, or this team would not had been formed for nothing, but it is through God that we made it to the championship title.

For now, I'm trusting in Him for the path i will take in future. The season has come to a closure and it's all about study now! :D

Back from Taiwan! || Back to top

Hi guys!

It's been super long since I posted an entry... again, but seriously, I'm always packed with events and activities, such as GOING TO TAIWAN for 5 days. I just returned recently and am exceedingly glad to be able to go for the Singapore U17/ YOG training tour 2010. I just want to thank God for giving me this opportunity.

From this trip, I certainly learned a lot. It was just amazing to be able to watch and play with the Taiwanese there. They are obviously better than us and by having games with them really allowed us to learn much from them. Their speed, aggression and attitude was admirable. This trip also showed individual players where they stand. For me, there is still so much to learn and improve. Working towards improvement, I really hope God will help me become a better player and an athlete.

Besides basketball, there were quite a lot of time for us to shop and eat, but of course, basketball is priority. There were shops there were not bad but I think I enjoyed their food and service. Foods like "臭豆腐” (smelly bean curd), Taiwanese deep fried chicken snack, beef noodles were appetizing. They are also famous for their bubble tea. one of my favourites is the Yakult green tea flavour. It was the first time I tasted something like that. Another good thing about Taiwan is that they have good service. I could see that they really serve you with their heart, even if you leave after testing the clothes, they won't go "what a waste of time...".

Well, ultimately, this trip is about having an experience with with the Taiwanese players. After experiencing it, the next step is action. I'm to strive to improve! :D

Three weeks. || Back to top

Hi all,

As you can see from the dates of the post, it is approximately three weeks difference from the last post. It's obvious that I haven't been blogging, reason being I hardly had time to do so. I found time today cause I had no tuition! How amazing is that!?

Anyways, a week ago I accidentally fell while training on a rough floor. I could feel the torture of the stings on my wounds whenever I bathed. My Wrist was injured too. Nevertheless, God was there and protected me from even severe injuries. Beside that, I thank God for all the wins that my school had in the west-zone basketball tournament so far.

Chinese new year is round the corner. You guys must be busy eating and playing. For me, I'm finishing my granny's homemade pineapple tarts, emptying containers after next. They're great. By the way, I'm looking forward to my school's celebration concert. I hope that it would be the last and most memorable one before the sec fours leaves the school. Not forgetting about the holidays, I'm sure it'll all be about visitations and having a collection of cash in little red packets as usual. Well I pray for blessing for whoever who reads this post and...

Happy Chinese New Year!

Is there a 25th hour? || Back to top

I really hope I have more than 24 hours each day. Unfortunately, thats the amount of time God has given us.

Ever since the decision was made (refer to previous post), life became tough. It's full of Basketball. A pile of homework on the waiting list. Nice :D. It's indeed a tough life I have to live this year, but I have faith in Jesus that he can pull me through.

Our school has invited trainers from 'Adam Khoo' to do a 3-day workshop with us. It started today and ends on Friday night. Thank God cause this also means another thing- I have more time to unstack the pile of papers.

Anyways, I've gone for this adam khoo course about 6 - 7 years ago, but since I have another chance, I really hope this course will refresh my memory in the life skills and study techniques and help me in my 'o' levels. However, the Bible is still the best.

Thank God || Back to top

It's a new year and the first week of the year is about to end. Time flies real quickly.

Before I start with the Big thanks, I want to share a little testimony this evening. It was really late when I was on my way home from school. About 8 plus. Then I said a little prayer in my heart that the bus would leave from the interchange exactly at the time I reached the bus queue. When I had reached, the driver horned the bus to signal the passengers to hop in. Thank God for that.

Time for the main thing. As all basketball players know, the annual season will start soon. Being in the YOG squad (a group of basketball players selected to be selected again in the future for the final YOG team), there was kind of an argument whether to allow players representing any sport in YOG to play in any of the inter-school competition. It was really a difficult time for me when the decision was made that all players involved in any YOG team could not play for the school. Especially when this is my last year.

Fortunately, I think they held another meeting to discuss the matter. I prayed and asked God to make a way and that whatever the result I will trust in Him that it is best for me. The result was finally out and three of our school players involved in the YOG squad, including my bro and I, could play in the inter-school competition.

I thank God for that and trust that His plan is the best for me.

Merry X'MAS || Back to top

25th December. What a great day to celebrate the birth of Jesus. I hope everyone, be it believers or not will be blessed in this festive day.

It's coming to the end of the year and I want to Thank God for being such a loving, awesome and miraculous God. As this year soon ends, I surrender my year ahead to Him, especially the 'o' levels, and I believe aside from studies, He will help me grow deeper and mature in Him, impacting others.

Basketball is a great sport burning deep in me, but nothing can be bigger than the room for God in my heart. It is only when I surrender myself to Him then he will help me excel in the sport I love.

Jesus was born but He was crucified to die for our sins. He did this because He loved us.

John 3: 16- "For God so LOVED the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life"

Newsboys- You are my King (amazing love)

I’m forgiven because You were forsaken
I’m accepted, You were condemned
I’m alive and well, Your Spirit lives within me
Because You died and rose again
